Although in 2006 Volkswagen was still behind its competition like Toyota, GM, Nissan or Ford, after 2011 its sales began to grow constantly and if they remain like that by 2018 they will surpass every car manufacturer in the world.

The company’s path to the top was not so easy and it was based on milestones, five decisive steps that proved very efficient along time.  The first and foremost was Ferdinand Piech the most aggressive chairman Volkswagen had whom took over the company’s decision making beginning with 1993 and ending in 2002. He was tough, he would fire employees that made the same mistake twice and always focus on expanding the brand on other markets, plus he acquired subsidiaries such as Lamborghini, Bugatti and Bentley.

The second step was to have cars for each market segment: mass cars, luxury cars, commercial cars, premium cars and sport cars. The third milestone was to share parts between the models thus saving costs. The fourth important step was to enter the China market. Visionaries, the Volkswagen officials observed China’s fast growing population and its development and the future need of cars. The fifth and last step is innovation and perpetual need of improvement which follows the label like a motto.

Today Volkswagen cars are sold in South America, Brazil, Western Europe, Germany, Central Europe, Russia, China, Asia Pacific and the numbers are growing higher. Volkswagen plans to create more car models and more factories by 2016 investing 76 billion Dollars and to increase their sale percentage with 39% by 2018.

This year’s edition took place in a weekend and gathered no less than 90 cars, beginning with Volkswagen beetle and ending with Porsche, Golf or Karmann Ghia. After the parade was done the drivers could take part in competitions to prove how they can master their cars and how fast they can change a tire. Some of the cars got prizes for being well preserved, rehabilitated while others pride themselves with slick tuning. The most wanted pieces in the parade were the oldest Beetle in Romania and the all electric Beetle.

For now the car is produced on demand but it will soon reach production lines and you will be able to purchase an Amarok XXL for your off-road journeys.

After many uncertainties, the German press brought back as a subject of discussion the Volkswagen BlueSport, announcing that many company officials consider that this vehicle is ideal for the brand.

Among the supporters of this project is Walter de Silva, the chief designer, who considers that the production of a small roadster would be a brilliant idea.

The first information on the BlueSport concept from Volkswagen appeared in 2009 in Detroit, but they decided then it won’t be produced in a series.

The BlueSport concept was presented with a 2.0 litre turbo engine of 177 HP, capable of jumping from 0 to 100KM/H in 6,4 seconds.

The Germans from Low-Car-Scene and Blackbox-Richter changed a Volkswagen Golf 7 and made it look quite feminin, to be honest, with that whte paint and those pink wheels. But that white paint, in fact, has a little secret, so when the sun sets, the car color glows in the dark and the wheel turn black.

Magic? Not really. The Germans started with a black Golf 7, which they coated in a glow in the dark 3M foil. Then they added 20 inch wheels worth 6000 Euros, which are lit by lamps placed on the mudguards of the brake discs.

The pack is completed by RideAir Version 3 air suspension system worth 3.600 Euros and a new front spoiler taken from a Golf 6 R-Line.

The Germans from Volkswagen published the first official details and images with the series version of the new Golf 7 GTI, which was presented as a concept at the Paris Auto Show 2012 along side the Volkswagen Golf 7 standard variant.

For the first time in history, Volkswagen Golf GTI will be available in two HP variants. The gas engine of 2.0 litres TSI develops 220 HP, which can be increased up to 230 HP with the help of the GTI Performance pack. Besides the 10 HP increase, the GTI Performance pack comes with a differential blocant for the front axe. Both in the standard version and the Performance version, the 2.0litre engine delivers a maximum torque of 350 Nm.

The official numbers state that Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI accelerated from 0 to 100 Km/H in 6,5 seconds and can reach to a maximum speed of 246 Km/H, while the 230 HP can get to 100 in 6,4 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 250Km/H.

Both versions are equipped with Stop/Start system and respects the EU-6 pollution standard which will become available in 2014.

The power is sent to front axe through a manual six steps gear box, but Volkswagen didn’t forget to offer, as an option, an automatic gear box with six steps and a double DSG clutch.

The exterior looks like a typical GTI from Volkswagen. Thus, the radiator grill has red touches, which at the new Golf 7 GTI will continue to the inside of the optic blocks, and the LED stops are grey. The exterior style package is completed by redesigned side skirts, an aileron on the trunk, an air diffuser on the back wing and 17 inch wheels covered in 225/45 R17 tires.

The  interior of Golf 7 GTI got a tartan upholstery for the standard sport chairs and a straight base steering wheel, black upholstery for the ceiling and red ambience lights.

The client list in Germany will be open on the 5^th of March 2013 with a starting pricer of 28.350 Euros.

At the Shanghai Auto Show 2012, the joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen presented to the Chinese audience the Volkswagen Lavida model, based on the [platform of the old VW Golf 4, but with a design closer to VW Passat.

At this year's Auto Show, the Chinese bring a new variant to the same model: Gran Lavida. Which is not technically a break, rather a semi break, if you will, a big hatchback in the Audi A3 Sportback style.

Compared to Lavida, the Gran Lavida model is 15 cm narrow, but the presence of the  tailgate offers a better access an better interior modularity (although officials didn't give too much information about the size of the trunk).

Volkswagen Gran Lavida is strictly for the Chinese market, where it will be produced with the same engines as the sedan and with an automatic DSC gearbox, Gran lavida wants to be a more accessible alternative to the precious Audi A3 Sportback and it hopes to attract a younger audience.

Created by group of Chinese students whom collaborated with Volkswagen at the project called “People’s car”. The 4Fun concept totally changes the image of a classic van. And not only because of the Science fiction related design or the doors that open vertically similar to those of Mercedes-Benz SLS.

The concept uses a hybrid recharge system but if it’s needed and the weather conditions allow it, the battery charge can also be made with the help of solar panels from the ceiling or even through wireless. Moreover, according to Chinese website Autohome, 4Fun is a concept to allow a connection to the Internet and will benefit at the same time by an advanced security system.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a new concept of the Germans from Wolfsburg. Derived from the CrossBlue prototype, which was presented at the Detroit Auto Show 2013, the new Volkswagen concept will most likely be presented at the Shanghai Auto Show 2013. There, the crossover which isn’t a coupe nor blue will rival with other two German concepts – Mercedes-benz GLA and BMW X4.

From the images publish on autoblog.nl we can see that the CrossBlue prototype looks a lot like the new Volkswagen Golf, on the outside and on the inside.

According to the Dutch, the Germans’ concept is equipped with an all wheel drive and a hybrid propulsion system. If it reaches production, Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept might be a replacement for the current Tiguan.

We will await further details from Volkswagen officials.
