For 2013, Skoda officials announce no less than eight new models. Although the auto constructor didn’t give any details about their names, the American press speculated around this subject. So, there are chances that in 2013 Skoda to launch an SUV with 7 seats, a Coupe or a hybrid of the rapid model, a new Super and a new Yeti.

In 2012, Skoda sold 939.200 units worldwide, establishing a new record. Compared to 2011, they advanced 6,8 percent. On the Romanian market, Skoda sold 6.303 cars, last year, over half of them were the Octavia model.

Qoros is a new auto brand produced in partnership between the Chinese and the Israeli, with the purpose to make a move on the European market. The debut of the first series model, Qoros sedan GQ3, will take place at the Geneva Auto Show 2013.

There, the producer will come with two new propositions based on GQ3, but for now in the state of pseudo-concepts: a hatchback Cross Hybrid model and the Estate sedan Concept.

The latter is more interesting if we take into consideration that, at the Geneva  Auto Show we will also see the debut of the new Soka Octavia break – it is easily observed, without speaking of plagiarism, that Qoros GQ3 wants to compete directly with the Czech model.

The new Octavia is lighter than its predecessors with 102 Kg and has stop-start as standard. The 1.6 liter TDI Octavia Greenline will be launched at the end of 2013, it has CO2 emissions of 89g/km and 83 mpg. Octavia vRS arrives in the Summer. The Octavia series begins with the S model equipped with Bluetooth, DAB radio, leather wrapped steering wheel, hill hold assist and 16 inch alloys. In comparison to the previous generation model, the new Octavia S is better equipped therefore is 3,500 Pounds more expensive.

Octavia SE adds the following improvements: height adjustment for the driver seat, front fog lights, automatic air conditioning, body colored door mirrors and handles and electronic stability control.  Skoda officials state that the new equipment on the SE gives it an extra value compared to its predecessor which is why it is 2,200 Pounds more expensive and is only 1,200 Pounds more than the S version.

Skoda intends to reach the goal of 1,5 million cars sold by 2018 and the new seven-seated SUV is part of the manufacturer’s market push, yet the car is less likely to be launched before 2016.

Although the project hasn’t yet been approved, the Czech officials are quite enthusiastic about the new model which would be bigger than the Yeti. The manufacturer took into account the clients’ wishes for big cars such as the Yeti or Kia Sorento. A special customized Yeti was produced for China since they felt the European design was way too short for them.

At the launch of the Skoda Octavia in Portugal, Winfried Wahland, Skoda chief executive stated: “ A big SUV is more important for the Asian Skoda market since Europeans prefer smaller SUVs.” Being in a product offensive, Skoda launches a new facelift model once in every six months. When asked whether the SUV will be part of a bigger picture, Wahland answered: “ I don’t see a window for this model until 2015.”

Based on the similar design of Volkswagen Touareg the SUV could have five and seven-seat varients with the same dimensions, very different from Yeti. The new SUV will be a better choice than a new MPV since Europeans tend to favor sport cars and the Russian and the Chinese tend to like them even more.

Skoda intends to grow their sales both in Asia and Europe aiming to get from 939,200 to 1.5 million items sold on the global market by 2018.

Those who are a fan of understatement will be pleased to see that the car isn’t quite as ostentatious as the current vRS. It looks like the Octavia’s rear spoiler has been removed, although this could well be an option. The car isn’t really fast enough to warrant a big rear wing.

The front features the now traditional gaping grille and LEDs, and it seems to look somewhere between the previous and current generation; being a little boxier. It’s a good looking car either way, and we’re sure that it will continue to attract those who like their hot hatches to be restrained.

The back of the car finally distinguishes it from previous models. It seems as though the rear of the Octavia has been the same for a decade now, but wider lights give it a whole new look. Just in case you weren’t aware of the car’s performance credentials, the vRS sports two huge and angular exhausts, which actually look very nice.

Pictures don’t do much to reveal the wheels, though red brake callipers can be seen clearly through the grey alloys. Again, this could be an option; some people are still fans of the old green ones.

Overall, there’s a sort of Kia / Mercedes look to the whole car. It may sound odd, but it’s certainly not a bad thing.

Under the bonnet, we can be reasonably sure that the car will feature the same turbocharged 2.0-litre that’s in the Golf GTi.

In short, it seems to be a good looking car, and everyone expects it to be just as good as all of the previous models. It’s not a radical departure, but it is an evolution in terms of style. The first generation vRS can now be had for around £2000 on places like Exchangeandmart.co.uk, so if you like the car but can’t afford the new one, that could be a good place to start.

The Czech have big plans for the future. Therefore, once in every six months, Skoda will launch a facelift or a new model. They will keep to this schedule till 2015. This way, Skoda hopes to have an annual production of 1,5 million cars by 2018.

Skoda Octavia 3 was officially presented, after a serie of teaser images and spy shots of the car without camouflage ended up on the Internet. The third Skoda Octavia generation is the first model of the czech auto producer and is based on the new MQB modular platform of the Volkswagen group, the underlying platform for Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3.

The dimensions of the new model are 4.695 mm length, 1.814 mm width, and the wheelbase is 2.686 mm which means that, compared to the current generation, Skoda Octavia 3 is 90 mm longer, 45 mm wider and has a wheelbase that is 108 mm  bigger.

The bigger the exterior, the bigger the interior. So, the head space for the front seat passangers is 8 mm bigger than the previous generation, the elbow space is 26 mm wider in front and 39 mm wider in the back.

According to the Skoda officials, Octavia 3 has the most spacious interior among the compact class cars and the biggest trunck with a capacity of 590 liters.

The exterior design is closer to the Skoda Rapid design, and the interior was renewed with better quality materials.

Among the technologies which will be available on the Octavia 3 there is the new multimedia system and , a premiere for Skoda, the Adaptive Cruise Assistant, meaning an adaptive cruise control, and a traffic sign recognition system,  which will be part of the “Traveller Assistant” package.

Other equipment which can be added on the Skoda Octavia third generation includes Intelligent Light Assistant, which automatically switches between low beam and driving lights, a panoramic ceiling and the Driving Mode Selection system, which allows the driver to choose how to drive ( for example: Sport or Comfort).

According to Skoda, the new Octavia will be available in Europe with an eight engine selection, amoing which a 1,4 liter TSI gasoline engine with 120 HP, another 1,8 liter TSI engine with 180 HP, but also a 1,6 liter TSI diesel engine which, in the GreenLine version, reaches up to 109 HP and has a medium intake of 3,4 l/100km and has only 89g/km carbon dioxide emissions.

Skoda Octavia 3 has front wheel traction and will be equipped  with manual transmission or with DSG automatic transmission. The auto company’s officials said that, in the future, there will be versions available with all-wheel traction , but only the  one with the break body.

Skoda Octavia 3 will be publicly presented in world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2013 and will get to the dealers shortly after.

At the end of 2013, Skoda will sell the best performing version of the model – Octavia RS, which will have under the hood the same 2,0 liter engine with turbochargers as the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
