For this year’s edition Audi prepared the TT Ultra Quatro which is slightly less fast in comparison to the TT RS plus.

Let’s talk about the little beast, shall we. TT Ultra Quattro  has 310 HP under the hood and a maximum torque of 400Nm. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 Km/H in only 4,2 seconds and has a maximum speed limit of 280Km/H , not bad!

For this concept car the guys from Audi focused on using light materials such as CFRP, FRP, magnesium and carbon fiber thus the car is with 300 Kg lighter that an average TT. The body is not the only light thing in the car, the engine is with 25 Kg lighter and so is the lithium-ion battery under the driver’s seat. All these changes were made with a good purpose, to make the car easier to handle, to lower its weight and to use smart material when building it. Audi TT Ultra Quattro will first appear at the Worthersee Festival this year and will probably be the star of the event.

If normally the price for this model at an auction would be between 3000 and 6000 Pounds, since it was the property of Diana Spencer, the Princess of Wales, the organizers decided to evaluate the model at 20.000 and 25.000 Pounds.

All being said, not even the officials that curate the auction cannot predict the price with which the car that carries a part of British Royal House history will be sold.

The auction will be organized by the COYS auction house and will take place on the 29^th of June. The car is in excellent functioning state and only has 33.800 Km on board, so there might be quite a fight to obtain it.

Not so long ago, the Germans from Audi had many hopes on R8 E-Tron, the Ingolstadt constructor officials even sent their engineer team to Nurburgring, to test the capacity of the electric super car during the green hell. It’s useless to say, that the impressive Audi R8 E-Tron managed to establish a new record, the 8 minutes and 9 seconds giving the German super car the title of Fastest electric vehicle in Nurburgring.

Yet this performance served for nothing, the Germans from Audi gave up the decision to launch the R8 E-Tron on the market, among the main reasons stated by the Ingolstadt constructor officials is the limited autonomy of the electric super car. Even so, the test ran by the German engineers continue, and this prototype was recently spotted on the snowy streets of Northern Europe.

All this being said, this fact doesn’t necessarily mean that the Ingolstadt officials changed their minds once more and plan to launch the production of the electric super car. On the contrary, it can be said that the Audi R8 E-Tron will help in developing electric technologies which will be implemented on other vehicles in the German series, and in the meantime it will be a film star, along side Tony Stark and Iron Man.

Audi published images and official information on the new body variant of the A3 model. We are talking about Audi A3 Sedan, or the saloon car to be more precise, which is the smallest Audi model that can be bought in the United States. Therefore, A3 will be available form now on in three body variants: three door hatchback, five door sportback and four door sedan.

When it will be launched in Europe, at the end of the summer of 2013, Audi A3 Sedan will be available with three engines with four cylinders – 1,4 TFSI, 1,8 TFSI and 2,0 TDI. The 1,4 TFSI engine has 138 HP and 250 Nm and also has the COD (cylinder on demand system), which can deactivate two cylinders when they are not used.

The second gas engine, the 1,8 TFSI, develops 177 HP and 250 Nm and has a medium fuel intake, only 5,6 L/100Km. You can get to 100 in 7,3 seconds and the maximum speed is 235 Km/H.

The only diesel available at the launch, the 2,0 litre TDI has the lowest fuel intake in the series, with a medium intake of 4,1 litres per 100 Km. Its propeller produces 148 HP and 320 Nm, values that assure a jump from 0 to 100 Km/H in 8,7 seconds and a maximum speed of 220 Km.

According to the type of engine you choose, Audi offers either a manual gearbox  with six gears, or an automatic gearbox with dual clutch S tronic.

Besides the normal versions of the A3 Sedan, Audi offered details about the new S3 Sedan, the sport version of the German saloon car. Like the S3 and S3 Sportback, the new S3 Sedan has a Quattro all-wheel drive system and the gas 2,0 Litres TFSI engine which develops 296 HP and 380 Nm. The jump from 0 to 100 Km/H is done in 4,9 seconds with the S tronic gearbox and in 5, 3 seconds with the manual gearbox, while the maximum speed is 250Km/H.

When it will be out for sale at the end of the summer of 2013, Audi A3 Sportback will have a starting price of 25.000 Euros.

According to Audi, quattro was introduced beginning with 1980 on the rally cars, and today it is found on 140 different models.

The success was possible since last year 43% of the sold Audi cars had this equipment, unlike 2010 when only 38% had this system. The best sold model which has all-wheel drive is the Q5 SUV, which is extremely popular in the Middle East, North America and Russia.

Today, the only Audi model which doesn’t have quattro system is A1, although there has been a limited A1 Quattro edition.

Teaser from Audi: the officials have launched a video on Youtube where you can see only a part of the interior of a car that will be launched at New York in a few days. The shape of the covered car gets us thinking of the new Audi A3 Sedan, which will rival with the new Mercedes-Benz CLA. Yet, we aren’t 100 percent sure.

If we are speaking of a new A3 Sedan, it’s worth knowing that it will have all the technical elements of the actual A3 ( engine, technical solutions) but it will be 4,44 M long, 1,84 M wide and 1,39 M tall. The trunk will be another rival, and the interior doesn’t differ from A3 Sportback. The car will have the side and rear lines similar to the concept presented at Geneva in 2012 ( here are some images). Otherwise, only this type of car was sold in USA unlike the five door model which is more popular in Europe.

On the other hand, we might have the pleasant surprise of an S3 Sedan or even a Q6….We just have to wait for the official pictures.

The new car from Audi is called A3 saloon and will have its world debut at the Shanghai motor show this April. Although it is expected to be quite a hit, the model was designed to draw attention and spark some sales on the Chinese market. Thus, China will most likely be the largest market for this type of car. Audi A3 saloon will become the direct rival of the famous Mercedes CLA  yet knowing the love the British have for hatchbacks it is most likely the sales quota won’t be too easy to obtain.

This A3 saloon shares the MQB underpinning with the A3 hatchback so an S3 variant would be possible although given it is a saloon, the clients won’t expect it to reach a high speed. Even so, the market will be on thin ice here in Britain. A3 saloon’s predecessors were the three door A3 hatch and the five door Sportback. The A3 family will soon welcome a brand new member to their family, the A3 cabriolet. This car model will debut during the first semester of 2014 at Frankfurt in September.

After Mercedes surprised its audience at the Geneva Auto Show with the live launch of the new CLA, Audi is already doing the final preparations to become its rival. We are talking about the sedan variant for the actual A3, programmed to reach the markets towards the end of this year. The European version of the Audi A3 Sedan will still be produced on the old continent.

The first contact with the German’s three volume model will take place next month, on the 20^th of April to be more precise, at the Shanghai Auto Show. Developed on the same MQB platform, the new A3 Sedan will take over a part of the design lines from the concept with the same name, presented in 2011, at the Geneva Auto Show.

The absolute novelty is the decision of the Ingolstadt officials to produce the three volume model at a plant in China, which they own along side FAW the local partner. This decision reconfirms Audi’s intentions to focus on the China market, where the premium segment has a positive evolution.

With a 4.4 M length, a 1.84 M width and a 1.39 M height, Audi A3 sedan will borrow the engines of the actual hatchback variant, from the 1.2 litre and 1.8 litre TSI, to the 2.0 TDI diesel engine with 150 and 184 HP.

The new estate car created by ABT Sportsline is based on the Audi S6 and it satisfies both sport and sophisticated tastes since it is racer and elegant at the same time. The car is powerful and has many advantages such as 600 HP/441 kW, a torque of 750 Nm not to mention the fact that it reached 100 km/h in only 3,9 seconds being faster than an S6 model. The car behaves well on the road despite the HP it has under the hood and the Bavaria tuning house added a few changes to its exterior also, add-on front and side skirts and rear spoiler out of carbon fiber. The tires and wheels also suffered a few changes, so the AS6-R car has 21 inch wheels with ER-X wheels.

Audi upgrades and gets a leading role in Iron Man 3

The German brand teams up with Marvel Studios and Disney and will once again be seen on screen in Iron Man 3 due to be released on the 3^rd of May this year. This is a big hit for Audi since in the previous two movies the R8, R8 Spyder, A8, S5 and Q7 models were featured.

Loren Angelo, General manager of Brand Marketing for Audi in U.S stated: “Audi is excited to collaborate again with Marvel and the R8 e-tron is an innovation leader and represents the main character, Stark who is a pioneer in technology and engineering mastermind.”

Robert Downey Jr who plays Tony Stark will be behind the wheel of R8 e-tron when he is not his alter ego Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow  returns as Pepper Potts, CEO of Stark Industries and the superhero’s girlfriend and will drive an S7 Sportback.

In Iron man 3 seems like Tony Stark faces a far grater enemy than he had expected and has to fight to protect those closest to him when all his world is crumbling down. It all comes down to the old question: Does the suit make the man or does the man make the suit?  The movie will be released on the 3^rd of May 2013 and will star Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Palthrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale and Ben Kingsley. The movie is based on the comics “The Invincible Iron man” which first appeared in May 1968. It is produced by Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.  Marvel Entertainment is now owned by The Walt Disney Company and has created over 8000 characters.
