The word ‘Volkswagen’ means ‘People’s Car’ in English and it seems we are genuinely going to see some exciting future projects from this great car manufacturer. From its ‘People’s Car Project’, the word came out that Volkswagen is going to come up with a revolutionary concept of an electromagnetic flying car in near future. Of course, we all are very interested to know what the VW group has in their mind regarding this – so let’s check it out!
Incredible Floating Doughnut Shape
Volkswagen people are saying that the future car from VW will be shaped like a floating doughnut! Yes, you’ve read it right – it’s doughnut we’re talking about! VW is going to call this primarily as the VW Hover Car – which will float in the air. We received this information from the project called ‘People’s Car Project’ which was launched during last year in China. Also, this incredible design of the VW Hover Car has been recently disclosed at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show as well.

The Details
As far as the Volkswagen authorities have confirmed the press, we have come to know that Volkswagen’s Hover Car concept heavily relies on electromagnetic force field. It will float above the ground at a distance of a foot and it will consist of only two seats. As far as the concept suggests, the Hover Car will probably have thrusters on the back of the car which would provide the motion to get forward and it will be energy efficient as well. However, for the car to move it will need electromagnetic roads underneath – so that basically that doesn’t seem to give a negative impression that would deflate the balloon of having the VW Hover Car. On the other hand, of course, we can still hope to see the Hover Car come out with some refinements as we all know that Volkswagen doesn’t make empty promises!

The big thing holding these back would be the infrastructure. Even more so than electric cars, hover cars would require new infrastructure to function. There would have to be a very compelling case to add electromagnetic elements to the roads – HUGE advances in safety or energy efficiency. And there is no point in having only the major roads magnetic – unless you want to roll your car the rest of the way home.
