While Porsche’s Boxster series has been one of the most popular series for a decade or so because of the hoodless looks and decent level of performance, but with the new Boxster base model and the Boxster S version Porsche has taken a huge leap toward the next level of success. Now, however the best thing about these two Boxster cars is that both are affordably priced – which means the mid-budget people can have a go at these as well!
The Boxster base version comes with a decent 265hp engine that is rated at 6,700 rpm. Such an ordinary level of horsepower may not be so exciting and all but it is true that it is not bad either, especially when you consider that this model is designed for budget users. The Boxster S has higher horsepower than the base model which makes it a better choice for some users. However, the higher horsepower is not that much either; about 315hp.
The Boxster base model comes with 164 miles per hour top speed while the Boxster S comes with a 173 mph – a bit of an upgrade we would say. Plus the acceleration of the Boxster S is slightly better than the Boxster base model, as the S model takes exactly 4.8 seconds to reach 60 mph while the Boxster base can only do that within 5.5 seconds. However, the base model is priced quite a bit lower while the S model is priced higher – so that means quite a lot, right?
The Price and the Verdict
The price of the Boxster S is $60,900 while the Boxster base model comes with a much lower $49,500 price tag. Such an attractive price will surely attract the car enthusiasts and those who are looking to buy a Porsche within a minimum price range. So it is better to go for the Boxster standard model because it has a bit of everything.
