The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta TDI was the first initiative by the Volkswagen group to produce less expensive cars for its buyers. It also happens to be the most refined and in fact controversial re design of any car model. The earlier Jetta used to be a compact sedan car with an inexorably high price but now the new version of this Jetta has undergone a major change in design, features and most important factor, its price tag. The new Jetta TDI is available at a very competitive market price to challenge all in the consumer market. The fans and press seems to have been a little less enthusiastic about this model but the buyers are totally in for a ride.
The Volkswagen Jetta TDI saw a major increase in the sales last summer owing to its change in the pricing policy and so it definitely turned out to be a fruitful plan for both the parties. There are some realities and figures that made rounds for this model. First, the power train of the car did not undergo any change. The TDI version uses the same engine as that of the previous model and gives around 140 hp with 236 lb-ft of torque. Second, the car offers a stupendous fuel economy on the city roads and hence is a huge welcome by its buyers. The new Jetta model has definitely lowered the price of their basic model but the TDI model saw an increase in the price. Lastly, the TDI provided a better leg room to the driver owing to its larger size.
Apart from the upsides and the impressive factors there are some factors that do upset the buyer. The diesel engine employed in the car is heavier version than the gasoline engines and hence this has an impact on the car’s handling capability. The car offers a stable and decent speed with its altogether new design model. The body style is unique and new and offers a quite huge trunk space on the rear. The car’s exterior is enhanced by the 16 inch aluminum wheel base complemented pretty well by the turn signals, and the black front grilles. The interiors of the car are also very well done and provide the varied features including the power windows, a six speed transmission gearbox, a well to do sound system and a multifarious steering wheel.
There are a few other options available for the higher priced models but these do not happen to be so impressive. Whatever the case may be the car does not find any major competition in its sector owing to the fact that it is the only small powered diesel car available to the buyers and it happens to be the best in the entire lot. The diesel model provides for a great mileage on the long route highway journeys. The changes made to the Jetta are designed keeping a large part of the consumer market in mind. So Volkswagen has again excelled in producing a decent car model at an affordable price!
