The two-seater E-bugster concept was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year. This is an all-electric version of VW Beetle and has drawn some attention. Let’s take a look at the specs.
The E-Bugster sports a 85 kW electric motor, 199 pound-feet of torque and a 695-pound lithium ion battery pack that can be completely recharged in 35 minutes. The car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 10.9 seconds. What makes it appealing is the fact that it comes up with a kinetic energy recover system. This system charges the battery each time the driver steps off the accelerator. Moreover, you can see this on a display that shows important details like the power use, the battery state and remaining range.
E-Bugster features a roadster and sportier look. Thus, the car is 1,838 mm wide, 4,278 mm long, 1,400 mm high (which makes it 90 mm lower than a Beetle) and 30 mm broader.

The car sports flared wheel arches, twenty-inch alloy wheels, a chopped roof and a low gradient screen. The central air intake at the front of the car is surrounded by LED lights. There’s a chrome trim under the side windows and aluminum door handles and seatbelt guides.

The ignition procedure seems to be special as well because VW states:
“Starting the E-Bugster is pure theatre: upon pressing the Start button the interior is bathed in white light, then blue light. It starts with a light pulse in the instrument cluster, from where the light emanates in a millimeter-wide strip, coursing into the doors and around the air nozzles.”
