There is not a long time until the German compact will move to a new generation, adopting the new technical modular platform, which will be also used later by other brand models.

The seventh generation of the compact class reference model, Volkswagen Golf 7 is on the way to series production and is not too far to go. Instead of spy photos and details inside the car, we have an official and important information, the Germans presents the first pictures and details about the technical platform of the car. The chosen solution is a modular, called MQB, which we’ve heard, some time ago, that it will be used for the next Passat generation.

The main feature of the technical platform consists in its flexibility, the wheelbase, track width and seat position can be varied depending on the configuration model produced. It seems that the Wolfsburg efficiency is a very important point on the list of engineers.

Thus, as the German Group have practiced in the last ten years, from this technical platform will benefit many other models in the group, such as Beetle, Scirocco, Jetta, Touran, Sharan, Audi A3, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia .

All engines that will accompany the MQB platform, whatever the power solution, diesel or gasoline, will be mounted transversely, this solution being adapted also to comply with hybrid or electric engines.

Furthermore, the platform will allow, on the same assembly line, to build models of the different brands together. For example, a Seat Leon will be assembled immediately after a Volkswagen Golf, in the same factory.
