Lately, most manufacturers of sports cars and luxury limousines are moving gradually towards lower displacement engines adopting supercharging  to increase the power developed in parallel with decreasing carbon emissions and fuel consumption.

Well, Lamborghini said no to this trend, at least for the near future. These statements do not surprise us in any way because Lamborghini turned out to be one of the most purists sports car manufacturers. The most recent demonstration is coming from Aventador, though it received a completely new engine, the model kept the V12 configuration and 6.5 liters engine capacity.

Official statements are coming from Stephan Winkelmann – the Supremo of the Italian company – which said “I do not see anything that would happen in the sports car industry, at least in this decade”, but added that “I would not put my hand in fire that will never happen”(supercharged engines adopting).

However, Gallardo‘s successor that will occur over several years (the model that Lamborghini is already waiting for the first pre-orders) will share technical platform with the second generation of the Audi R8, and it is possible to take smaller engines, supercharged . From here to the “Gallardo” (we do not know yet how it will be named his substitute) turbo is just a step. But, as Winklemann pointed out immediately, “any project in this direction will strictly comply with Lamborghini DNA“.

How do you see the future of Lamborghini? Would you accept a stuffy hissing Gallardo instead of the thunder heard from several miles?
