Ward’s Auto launched the rumour that Audi is going to build and open a new fabrication localization in North America. Although an exact place hasn’t been confirmed by the Audi’s marketing department, recent gossip whisper about something around Mexico. In the past, Audi’s Big daddy, Volskswagen, had in mind manufacturing the Audi cars in the brand new place in Chattanooga, Tennessee, designed for Passat Sedan fabrication. But, after the latest news, this idea seems out-of-date. Apparently, Audi is heading to Mexico due to its working class elasticity and lower remunerations.
At the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, Johan de Nysschen, the director of German luxury manufacturer, didn’t confirm the rumors, but he didn’t infirm it either. He just limted to list the benefits of a manufacturing localization in Mexico. Audi’s boss said that a facility in North America would shelter the company’s operations against currency constant changes. He also mentioned that at least 100,000 units od a vehicle line must be made in the new facility in order to give an economically wave. In 2011, Audi exported only 117,500 cars from all of the owned lines to the United States. The conclusion is that the vehicles made in the new facility form North America will be exported, the same way as the BMW cars made in Spartanburg, South Carolina are.
