NEW British manufacturer Eterniti Motors has revealed more details of its super-luxury SUV.

Based on a stripped-down Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the Hemera promises to deliver the off-road capabilities of a 4×4 and the space and luxury of a Rolls-Royce, yet still be fun to drive.

To achieve this, Eterniti has enlisted the help of Alastair Macqueen, the man responsible for developing the Jaguar XJ220, plus three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner and ex-Formula One driver Johnny Herbert, who has provided feedback on the car.

Herbert told: “Coming from a motorsport background, we have the ability to develop the car very quickly, when other manufacturers would stop to have a big meeting about every little detail.”

Nearly every Cayenne body panel has been replaced to set Hemera apart

With early production versions said to deliver almost 600bhp, the Hemera will be no slouch off the line and Eterniti says it’s aiming to match this performance with the handling of a BMW M5.

Outside, every body panel except for the roof and window frames will be modified to give the Hemera a unique look, while the lights are custom-made and new wheels are used to increase the track.

Inside, the rear bench has been replaced by a pair of luxurious seats that have been set back by 120mm to provide greater legroom. These will be electrically reclining, heated and cooled, while two standard-fit iPads and keyboards will keep passengers entertained. Expect lots of personal customisation, too.

Eterniti plans to unveil the production version of the Hemera at the Beijing Motor Show in April, as China is the target market. The plan is to sell 80 cars in 2012, with annual sales of 150 cars there after. The Hemera will cost around L150,000.
