If you already have started to avoid your car and you have not used it so often as before or maybe you have abandoned it in the garage and thought to change it with a smaller, less consuming engine that should not leave your pockets so empty, there are several advantageous variants!
So if you want to buy a car and you do not know which one records the lowest consumption, we present the list of most economical cars on the market.
The mini car class, if we refer to a 799 cc engine, the lowest recorded Smart diesel consumption is just 3.3 litres/100 km.
In terms of gasoline, a 1,200 cc engine, Renault Twingo and Chevrolet Spark consume the least of all cars 5.1 litres/100 kilometers.
Also, in the small class of cars we will find Renault Clio, Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 207, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, Seat Ibiza, Hyundai I30, Kia Ceed, Fiat Bravo.
Of all these, the smallest diesel consumption shall register by Renault Clio (1400 cc engine), 4 liters per 100 kilometers and gas Honda Jazz (5.1 litres/100 km) and Volkswagen Polo (5.3 litres/100 km) are the most economical engines both in 1,200 cc and 1400 cc class.
Compact class includes brands such as Hyundai I35, Skoda Octavia, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, Dacia Sandero, Dacia Logan, Renault Fluence, Renault Megane, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Ford Mondeo and Seat Leon.
Of these, the Volkswagen Golf has the lowest consumption category in diesel compact cars category, just 3.8 litres/100 kilometers (1,600 cc engine), and in gasoline category, Toyota Corolla consumes only 6.2 litres/100 km (1.600 cc engine).
In the intermediate class, Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C Class, Renault Laguna and Toyota Avensis compete for the title of the most economical car. Diesel winner is Volkswagen Passat that managed to consume 4.6 litres/100 km (2,000 cc engine).
But on gasoline, BMW 3 series consumes only 6.3 l/100 km (1,600 cc engine), while the stylish Mercedes C class get 6.7 litres/100 km (1,800 cc engine).
In the compact SUV category we will find Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV4, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga and the Peugeot 4007.
The most economical diesel compact SUV is the BMW X3, with consumption of 5.6 litres/100 km (2,000 cc engine), and gasoline Mitsubishi Outlander, which manages to pull 7.7 litres/100 kilometers (motor 2,000 cc).
And last but not least, the Audi Q7 recorded the lowest gas consumption in the heavyweight category of full-size SUVs, only 9.1 litres/100 km with a 3,000 cc engine, while his opponent Mercedes ML diesel has the smallest consumption 8.6 litres/100 kilometers (3,000 cc).
