Five-figure discounts make Volkswagen’s big SUV look highly tempting
The VW Touareg is as imposing on our roads as it is to our wallets. New, prices start at L40,115 for the 3.0 V6 TDI SE, climbing to L59,580 for the top-of-the-range, V8-powered 4.2 TDI Altitude. However, we’ve tracked down reductions well in excess of L10,000 to make VW‘s 4×4 brute more affordable.
Starting with the 3.0-litre V6 TSI Hybrid, one dealer is offering a 2011 car for just L47,250. With only 300 miles on the clock, that’s a saving of well over L10k. Call Stourbridge Volkswagen on 0845 0179126 for details.
For the same car, Smith Knight Fay VW In Stockport has a 50-mile example foronly L45,991. Call them on 0845 1218825 for this fantastic deal.
Savings on the higher-output 3.0 TDI versions are also impressive. We found a top-spec Altitude (240) car with 1800 miles on the clock for L39,990. That eguates to a L4305 saving for a good-as-new Touareg. You’ll find Vindis In Cambridge on 0845020 3584. The full-fat 4.2 V8 TDI Altitude is also available with money off. Carfile.net has L6400 knocked off at L53,180. lts 335bhp V8 and 590lb ft of torque will sweep the 2.3-tonne Touareg to 62mph from rest in just 5.8sec, while returning a respectable 31mpg.
But buyer beware: the V8 and hybrid have brutal depreciation. What Car? figures estimate a three-year loss of L35,455 and L33,845 respectively.
